PARALYMPIC ALPINE SKI RACER

CURRENT PINNACLE ATHLETE

Ranked number two in the world in slalom and seven in grand slalom, 21-year-old Adam is a fulltime pro racer on the international circuit.

Third overall in the World Cup slalom champs 2007/08, he won seven consecutive gold medals in the world series.

A member of the national Disabled Ski Team since 2005, he represented NZ at the 2006 Paralympics at Torino in Italy 2006. In Pinnacle, he is working towards the 1010 Games at Vancouver. He has realistic but ambitious career goals.

Adam was born with Spina Bifida, which often leaves people in a wheelchair; however Adam is mobile and able to walk. He skis upright but recognises he will be a seated ski one day.

He’s a snowboarder at heart but pursues skiing as boarding is not an Olympic sport, yet.

Adam is based at his parents’ dairy farm at Outram on the Taireri Plains outside Dunedin, living in Wanaka to ski Cardrona in the southern winter and America in the opposing season. He enjoys back-to-back winters.

In 2008, as he was accepted into Pinnacle, Adam was named NZ Snowsports Disabled Skier of the Year as well as the ultimate accolade, NZ Snowsports Athlete of the Year, and equal award with Jossi Wells.

He graduates from Pinnacle in 2010.
